"Hues if Life"

Hues of Life takes a critical view of social and cultural issues. I photographed interracial couples engaged in an event they enjoy, to show that everyone can have fun and enjoy time together. Seeing interracial couples this way, contrast with some people’s idea of what interracial love looks like. Photography makes a strong statement because it is easier to connect with the subject, when you can see them. I used a narrative approach, photographing subjects engaged in ordinary activities in a lifestyle image. As a person in a long-term interracial relationship, my approach to my subjects in non-judgmental and honest. Through my work, viewers can see that interracial couples are just like everyone else. Through these image’s I show that race should not matter. Growing up where ethnicity was not a consideration at all in choosing friends, I want to show everyone that it is okay to have a relationship with someone of a different skin color whether romantic or friendly. Finding someone to love is a wonderful gift; we should never deny an opportunity to engage with someone because they look different than we do. Love should be colorblind.
